Parker & McCarthy Middle School
Deer Survey

During Mr. Dolan's  and Mr. Hunt's exciting  science class this year we studied deer.  I really thought that Mr. Dolan knew a lot about deer; that made him a very good teacher at that subject.

Throughout the year Parker and McCarthy have been doing a deer survey about the over population of deer in Chelmsford.  All the class members administered surveys to their neighbors and friends. That gave us the amount of deer seen in Chelmsford.  The survey also had  information about the deer like the sex, approximate age where it was sighted and what it was doing. We also had a mock town meeting about what we should do about the over populated deer, the conclusion was to have a controlled bow hunt.  Each class represented a different group such as the hunters, animal rights activists, etc.

As you can see from the results of the survey, South Chelmsford had most amount of deer.   We looked at sections of town to find deer sightings.  Here is a table to summarize our findings.
